Date: 06/22/97 After Phase I Mods Only. These are my first runs EVER as a novice! I placed 7th out of 14 in the afternoon novice competition. 1st-6th novice best times on same track and same day are listed also. The 54.104 time was a Dodge Stealth twin turbo all wheel drive. Date: 07/06/97 After Phase II Mods. On this P.I.R. course 2 seconds was about a 20 yard lead at the finish after two laps. So it wasn't like the 1st place car was killing the 2nd and 3rd cars. Didn't get times for others. Date: 07/13/97 After Phase II Mods. Bremerton this week. Very hot day and some even hotter racing on a tough course. Slowrider was out gunned and can't drive for shit on the 13th. Out of four runs I only had two clean runs and neither of those were pretty as I nearly missed several gates. Need driving lessons again and a brand new suspension. Chuck Hanson in the Z28 SS was top dog for the day in a different class with apx 59.1 sec (even beat a couple bad ass 911s). These were the best of the bunch in the Large Sedan class (not SCCA rated). Date: 07/20/97 After Phase II Mods. All other cars had racing slicks. I took two "fun runs" later and got my times down to 54.476 and 54.635, after a fish tail right before the finish. If not for that I may have been sub 54. According to Chuck Hanson (**), their SS is set up with adjustable Koni shocks, heavier sway bars, the Pro Kit lowering springs, a strut tower brace, Borla exhaust, Herb Adams tourque arm, a pan hard rod and BFG T/A R1 racing tires. Date: 08/03/97 After Phase II Mods. Jason's first novice race also. Jason's 4th run was his best at 75.188 (not too bad). Wade tai also raced novice. Date: 08/16 and 08/17/97 After Phase II Mods and BFG R1s. On day 1 I managed to get revenge on Jim Terry who beat me pretty well on 07/06/97 at P.I.R. Then to rub it in I put the screws to him again on Day 2. The BFG's help tame the Z28 a lot. I also slipped by Donna LaPlante for the the first time. But I still could not nail Ed who saw me coming. I was trying to beat both Jason Braunberger from Eugene, OR who was driving a highly modified '85 Z28 in the CP class and Kimberly Olerich running in a '96 BMW M3 who is very good also. These were my "bench mark" targets. I'm finally learning how to drive. No cones for the past 3 races.
Date: 08/24/97 After Phase II Mods and BFG R1s. Not much turn out on rainy day. Only one other IA car to run against. I ran on wet course. The Porche 911 ran on nearly dry course. It was a three lap all at once type of race. Date: 08/31/97 After Phase II Mods and BFG R1s. Had a bad day. First run missed a gate and the time I got before the penalty sucked. Second run was much better right up until I lost it coming out of the last turn. I had one clean run for the day. Back to driving school. Greg Cudnik even posted a better time than me (but never again I hope). Chuck Hanson was the only other ESP driver too. Date: 09/01/97 After Phase II Mods and BFG R1s Had another rough outing. But had some fun too. Let another seasoned vet drive my car for two runs and he proved that the car will come within a couple seconds of the Molleker silver SS at least. Like the Bremerton races as we get 4 runs to boot. BTW, Brandon drove the Molleker SS and did real well!!
