I was born in Enfield, IL. My father's name was apparently Richard A. Jessup (of Irish decent) who was born in Carmi, IL on 02/23/1870 and who later died in 1906 in Denver, CO due to a rail yard accident. My mother's name was apparently Claira (?) Sheridan (maiden name) who possibly passed away in apx 1951. After Richard died Claira married a second husband named Miller. Claira's father apparently was named Thomas Sheridan (a possible Captain in Civil War) who had the same last name as a famous Civil War general named Philip Henry Sheridan (with no direct or known connection).

My grandfather's name (on my father's side) was Richard Jessup (PDF file), a very interesting character, who had children from two different wives. The PDF file link and the link to this White County, Illinois history book may be used to research the Jessup clan, White County and the township of Carmi, Illinois in more depth.

Here is some more info about some of my other relatives (sons, etc.)...

My first son, Richard (Dick) Edgar Jessup, was born 10/16/1926. He married Virginia (maiden name unknown) who was born 04/20/1925. They have two children, Dennis (Denny) Richard Jessup born 02/17/1946 (?) and Linda Merrill (maiden name Jessup) born 12/29/1951 (?).

Denny married Cindy (birthdate and maiden unknown) and they have two children, son Dustin born in 1978 and daughter Carla (birthdate unknown).

Linda married and divorced Brint Stumbaugh (birthdate unknown) and they have one son Matt born 06/08/1979. Linda also married Les Merrill during 12/1985. His birthdate is 07/14/1950 and they have a daughter, Kelly Claire Merrill, born 02/24/1987 (?).

My second son was Cap Thomas Jessup; his middle name most likely taken from Claira's father, Thomas Sheridan (see above + his link for more information).
